This
development involved the construction of 15 General Needs (1 and 2
bed) homes on a brownfield site in the heart of the residential
area of South Norwood. Initial works required the demolition of an
existing factory unit, site clearance and soil remediation.
Access to the site was very restricted and
required close liaison with local residents, the police and the
Local Authority to ensure the demolition, transport movement and
lifting operations proceeded safely and with minimum disruption.
Innovative modern methods of construction were used, including
energy efficient and eco-friendly services, recycling and supply
chain partnering.
The project was delivered on time, within budget,
safely and to a high standard of quality, and in 2006 Mulalley's
Project Team were rewarded with a GOLD Considerate Constructors
Award with the judges citing Harrington Road as a "very high
standard site".
