In May 2003 Mulalley were asked by Kelsey HA to
assist in their bid for a 500 unit LSVT in Gosport, Hampshire.
These units consisted of 5 tower blocks of varying
sizes adjacent to the harbour at Gosport and facing the Gun Wharf
development in Portsmouth.
These 5 blocks suffered from a lack of investment
and Gosport Council could not fund the Decent Homes and necessary
structural refurbishment. Almost 50% of the units in the two
waterside blocks were leaseholders.
Mulalley’s expertise in high rise occupied
regeneration projects was of key importance to address the
concerns of the Residents during the bid stage and the Kelsey team
were successfully selected. Mulalley assisting Kelsey by attending
resident interviews and presentations, bringing Residents from
previous schemes and installing a show flat to show the ‘before
and after’ effect of the planned works.
The result was a successful ballot in favour of
the Kelsey team and in late 2004 Mulalley were formally appointed
by Kelsey and the Residents to undertake this £15 million
regeneration.
A three year programme commenced to bring these
tower blocks to a 21st century standard. These works are nearing
completion, on programme and delighting the client and residents.
The works included:
- New roofs
- External insulation and rain screen cladding
- New windows
- New services
- New kitchens and bathrooms
- External and landscaping works
