The works comprised reroofing high level repair
works to 2No large Grade II listed blocks on the famous Barbican
Estate, London.
The works included the renewal of a multitude of
roofing material including specialist felt, membranes and mastic
asphalt works and extended to both the main roof areas (including
barrel vaults) and the high level balconies.
To enable the roofing to proceed without affecting
the residents large temporary roofs were constructed from a
specialist lightweight scaffold system and moved in progress with
works. This innovative use of temporary protection ensured no
water penetration during the works. After reroofing all high level
joinery was repaired and redecorated to provide a 20 year
lifespan.
