The existing building of 5,000 sq ft was totally
stripped to the original steel frame, ground and first floor slab
and roof structure.
Two new extensions were built at each end of the
building with the front extension incorporating a passenger lift
and the rear a disabled toilet. The extensions were constructed on
2.5m strip footings with walls of solid blockwork overclad with
either Sto render system or Kawneer Aluminium Windows cladding.
The original building was reconstructed using
timber framing and then clad with Western Red Cedar panels and Kawneer Aluminium Windows. The existing roof covering was
removed; new insulation and new roof covering was relaid. Vitral
Automatic Roof lights where also installed to the roof
construction.
Metal stud partitions were constructed internally
and then faced with ply/plasterboard each side with a plaster
finish. Maple screen door frames and reception desk where
installed to form a new modern reception area.
