Mulalley and Gallions Housing Association has funded a photographic and biographical tribute to former rock star Ronnie Lane at one of their development sites on the Little Ilford Estate in East London.
Ronnie Lane, born in 1946 was a founding member of the The Small Faces with Steve Marriott, Kenny Jones, and Jimmy Winston, best remembered as one of the most acclaimed and influential mod groups of the 1960s, with hit songs such as "Itchycoo Park" and "Lazy Sunday". In the 1970’s Ronnie Lane and Kenny Jones were joined by famous singer Rod Stewart and the ‘Faces’ enjoyed further worldwide success.
Ronnie quit the Faces in 1973 to form his own band but in 1977 Lane was diagnosed with muliple sclerosis and he moved to Texas, where the climate was more beneficial to his health. Regrettably on 4th June 1997, aged only 51, he succumbed to pneumonia and died.

Lane’s musical legacy is still very much alive in this part of East London. A street in Little Ilford where the hoarding now stands is fittingly called "Ronnie Lane".
The Little Ilford development is a £26m project that will provide 53 private sale units, 52 shared ownership units and 28 affordable rented units.
The regeneration is being undertaken as a partnership between Mulalley who will be undertaking construction works and Gallions Housing Association together with Sherry Green Homes (a Mulalley associate company) and Newham Council.
Works are targeted to start on site in late April 2008
Mulalley have also recently commenced an extensive external refurbishment of the tower blocks on this estate together with Decent Homes internal improvements to the low rise blocks. These works are part of a separate framework agreement with Newham Homes (Newham Council ALMO)
