Major
Decent Homes Programme Watford Community Housing Trust
Following
a unique and complex procurement process, involving tenants in the
decision making process, Mulalley has been appointed by Watford
Community Housing Trust as one of two preferred partners to
deliver their Improvement Works Programme. Value to Mulalley is
£21 million.
Mulalley
were also appointed as one of six framework contractors to a four
year joint consortium that The Trust have implemented with the aim
of delivering improved efficiencies for all parties. It is Watford
Community Trust’s intention that other Social Landlords within
Hertfordshire, South and Central England use this framework to
enable them to call off services without running further EU
procurement processes. The works covered by a consortium
arrangement include capital improvement works, term repairs and
maintenance together with new build projects.
The
Trust, www.wcht.org.uk was created in partnership with tenants and
leaseholders to take over the ownership and management of more
than 4,700 homes and 20 local community areas from Watford Borough
Council in September 2007. As a Community Gateway, the decision
about how The Trust and our local neighbourhoods are run in ways
that haven’t been possible before.
The
trust plans to deliver an ambitious £66 million improvement
programme to tenant’s homes and estates, to deliver it’s
promises.
"We
are really excited about working with the Trust and fully support
their culture of empowering tenants and leaseholders. This
philosophy sits well with Mulalley’s ethos of always putting
residents at the heart of our delivery. I am sure that by working
collaboratively we can achieve the Trust’s aim to become an
exemplar of good practice with a strong emphasis on
sustainability"
Bruce
Benson, Mulalley Operations Director
