The famous Mulalley Challenge was a hit with the year 11 children of Royal Dock Community School, Docklands as they prepared to make choices about options and future careers in Construction.
The event, held on 18th October, was organised by the Newham Council in partnership with the Canning Town and Custom House Regeneration Project Team to raise young peoples awareness of the opportunities in the construction industry
The Challenge is interactive allowing the students to learn how to wire a plug, change a washer on a tap and rehang a cupboard door – all basic components that you would find in every household. After a brief health and safety presentation to each group, the young adults faced their different challenges and soon found their niche, be it an electrician, carpenter or plumber.
All the children were enthusing about their achievements and how, after much trepidation, realised that it was not as hard as they first thought.
Mulalley are currently working in Newham Borough on a number of prestigious projects including Tanner & Nicholls Point major refurbishment, Little Ilford Regeneration scheme and three housing refurbishment frameworks for Newham Homes.
