This extensive project involved the
provision of new windows, roofing, concrete repairs and
general external refurbishment to blocks of flats in
Hackney, London. This site made an exceptional effort to
build and maintain good relations with tenants, residents
and the local community in general. This was achieved
through open days for tenants and residents, with
transport to further areas provided, regular open evenings
for information and discussion, a residents? committee and
the provision of a free phone line for any enquiries. Easy
and immediate site access to Residents Liaison Officers
was put in place, and attention was paid to language
issues and religious festivals. Together with noise
control, a strict dress code and other considerate site
practices, this resulted in very high tenant satisfaction
levels as evidenced by the many letters of thanks from the
community displayed at the site. Good presentation and
high safety levels were also maintained throughout, making
this site an exceptional example of considerate site
practice in action.
