Judges Comments:
"This project was a small development
of three storey flats set in a brownfield former
industrial site in a south London residential side street
area.
To minimise and alleviate visual and noise
disruption, the Site Manager worked from the outset to
inform and liaise with adjoining residents. Garden fence
surveys were carried out and the development fences were
constructed and realigned, in full cooperation with
neighbours.
The site required large articulated
deliveries of structural components from overseas, which
necessitated temporary road closures. The Site Manager
wrote to all affected and arranged for banksmen to ensure
that pedestrians and car users parking in the side street
would have safe passage.
Following noise concerns, the Site Manager
replaced a diesel fork lift with an electric hoist. One
visiting neighbour complimented the Site Manager and wrote
to the company expressing appreciation for such a
considerate site.
A very high standard was achieved and
maintained for the site set up, safety and welfare
facilities. Crushed hardcore hardstandings were provided
for the working area, site delivery area and the separate
rear pedestrian entrance so enabling mud free operations,
good storage and access. Full site facilities were
provided for the workforce including a shower and lockers.
All these, coupled with covered segregated waste and
recycling facilities, provided a neat, tidy and a visually
very high standard site."
