Judges Comments:
"The contract comprised the provision
of new kitchens and general improvements to two blocks of
local authority flats.
The contractor had approached the project
in a professional way to deal with the problems of working
in peoples' homes. A newsletter about the project was
issued to all tenants on a regular basis.
Although now a common feature on many
similar contracts, the contractor had already employed a
site based Residents' Liaison Officer who maintained
constant communication with the tenants as to the work in
their home to be undertaken and who subsequently dealt
with any associated problems.
Another feature was the provision of a
tenants' temporary 'lounge' with TV, cloakroom and kitchen
facilities which was for their use during the times when
work was being carried out in their home. The site set-up
was extremely good with excellent facilities for the
workforce.
The contractor maintained this well
organised site by taking into account the Considerate
Constructors Scheme code and dealing with the general
public in a sympathetic way."
