"The contract comprised the repair
and general external renovation of 40 houses encompassing
102 households scattered over a number of streets and
forming part of a residential area of Victorian housing in
north London.
Limited space required separation of the
office from the welfare facilities installed in a
different remote house. The site management introduced a
liaison officer to coordinate access but more importantly,
pre-empt problems and queries. A friendly neighbour was
found to provide information on religious holidays,
customs and translations and multi-language signs were
introduced, since the residents in this area fell into two
distinct religious and ethnic groups.
The courtesy of the operatives was
paramount and induction included the Considerate
Constructors Scheme film. Flexible working times, only out
of hours deliveries near the schools and an efficient
neighbour warning system created a good attitude to the
area as a whole. lack of any formal complaints is a
remarkable record and reflects well on the team for such a
complex operation."
