"This project was the mainly external
sympathetic refurbishment of two grade 2 listed fully
occupied blocks of 60 flats built in 1886 in the East End
of London.
"Excellent initial communication was
made with the locals including a meeting in the community
hall and the distribution of introductory brochures to all
those affected. A full time Resident Liaison Officer was
based on site in the excellent site set up. The
accommodation part doubled up as a residents' information
centre and respite unit. Any residents' frailties and
needs were established at an early stage and a Residents'
Association was started and encouraged and hopefully will
now continue to flourish.
The operatives were required to wear
corporate hi-viz tops and these had the Mulalley
"Have I been considerate?" wording on the back.
Local people were encouraged to report good and bad
behaviour via special forms. All had full photo ID passes.
A well presented and very considerately
run project. "
